No, not shellfish, I would never write about shellfish, something I am highly allergic to. I am talking about "shelfies." Now what is a shelfie you ask?
Apparently shelfies are the NEXT BIG THING. It seems that many things are coming out saying they are the next and big (subgenres of YA literature anyone?) But www.hellogiggles.com reported today that shelfies are where it's at. According to the article, "Shelfies are not quite a selfie, a shelfie refers to a photo taken of a shelf filled with a person’s belongings." The article continues to note that this new trend in photography has dominated by personal bookshelves.
Hmmmm. I have really sloppy looking bookshelves. An interior designer I am not, but this new thing might inspire me to clean up my literary act! As a promoter of all things books I think this is a trend I can definitely follow.
For one thing, shelfies promote reading. I have always thought books were cool. Ever since my Tab book order days where it was more exciting for me to count down to the Scholastic Book Fair rather than counting down the days until Thanksgiving break, reading has always been a fun activity for me. So if this social media trend will promote reading then I am all for it.
